Job Responsibilities
Below responsibilities are written separately because Senior Engineer level involves more planning depth, data ownership, and cross-functional coordination.
Responsibilities for Production Planning Engineer
- Prepare daily and weekly production plans as per customer schedules and plant norms.
- Maintain FG and WIP stock levels and ensure they stay within defined limits.
- Prepare daily production reports and share them with supervisors and the planning team.
- Raise material and manpower indents and keep track of approvals.
- Monitor machine loading, manpower availability and shift planning.
- Coordinate with the SCM team whenever there are material shortages or delays.
- Follow up with tool maintenance if there is any tool delay impacting the plan.
- Support in PDA ticket closure related to production issues.
- Check customer schedules and update production plans accordingly.
Responsibilities for Senior Production Planning Engineer
- Lead end-to-end planning and handle alignment between customer demand and plant capacity.
- Conduct capacity studies based on forecast, daily schedules, tool life, and machine availability.
- Analyse Production Plan vs Actual performance and drive corrective actions with respective teams.
- Prepare yearly CAPEX requirements by studying future volumes and process changes.
- Coordinate with senior leaders, quality, SCM, and manufacturing to ensure smooth flow.
- Review safety stock requirements and adjust the planning cycle accordingly.
- Work closely with customer planning teams for schedule adherence, line stoppage prevention, and urgent delivery management.
- Monitor critical items, long lead materials, and maintain a risk log for possible shortages.
- Handle planning escalations and take ownership of recovery plans.
