What the Role Mainly Involves
The work is mostly around new development. You will be looking after sheet metal components, machined items, drawings, and all the small details that come along with it.
Some of the work includes:
- Going through customer requirements and matching them with project timelines.
- Checking drawings, understanding GD and T, and making sure the team follows the correct standards.
- Preparing and releasing 2D and 3D CAD models in software like SolidWorks or CATIA.
- Coordinating with quality, production, and suppliers, which honestly takes a lot of time in most companies.
- Doing feasibility checks, PFMEA, and tolerance studies.
- Going through CMM reports and inspection data.
- Supporting prototype samples, PPAP, BOM updates, ECN updates and all of that.
This role suits someone who has already worked in new product development and understands the usual pressure that comes with deadlines and customer expectations.
